Fanna

Today I watched Fanna - the much debated and controversial film. Being in a country which is seeing increasing levels of intolerance and hatred, where films can be banned at any time, I thought it was advisible to watch the film early.

We(Me and 2 of my friends) went to Andheri Lokhandwala to watch the film. Attitude was 'aaj kuch karke hi aayenge'. First we went to Infiniti Mall which hosts one of the Cinemax Multiplexes in Mumbai. But the result was shocking..All shows full. No tickets. But the guy at the Box Office finally gave some ray of hope. He asked us to come at 8.15 to check if tickets are available for the 8.45 show. If any noble hearted person who has booked over the phone or net was decided not to turn up, then we stand a chance to get the ticket. Almost an hour left for 8.15, so we decided to do Thetre Hopping, or rather Multiplex Hopping. From Infiniti, we become Finite. Walked across to Fame Adlabs. But same scene there also. No tickets. So back to Cinemax again. But this time we were lucky. There were just 3 tickets left. A kind a generous person decided not to turn up to collect his ticket booked online or though phone. Bhagwan us mahan aadmi ka bhala kaare...But then came the 1st jolt...Rs 250 per ticket. It took me some time to come out of the initial shock...But then, as they say, kuch paane ke liye kuch khona padhta hai.

The movie was definitely good. Aamir Khan was superb in spells, and so was Kajol. Very well shot with marks of technical superiority written all over the film. The music also had class written all over it..I am sure Jatin Lalit duo has created a masterpiece in their so called last effort together. But then, some more editing was needed. The film dragged on slighly towards the end..And like many other Hindi films, the end was neither convincing, nor strong. All in all, definitely a watchable film, which I would rate as 7.5/10. And if the tickets were cheaper, then I might have even given it a better rating. But, as if the directors life depended on my rating. :-)

My take is - go out, watch this movie...as long as you don't have to pay an astronomical sum for it.
