Back to Mumbai

Yes, I am back in Mumbai after a brief hiatus of 22 months. Its a great feeling to be back...I always loved this city inspite of everything, and all though this 22 months, somewhere in the bottom of my heart I always prayed that I land up a job in Mumbai.

After landing in Mumbai, wondered whether I could be in for a surprise. Have things changed drastically and dramatically? But no, nothing seems to have changed. No, wait, let me correct myself. Yes, I do see changes. More and more traffic jam. Bad roads. Or maybe worse...It takes about an hour to travel to my home at Powai from my office at Kandivali everyday. Which, ideally, should have been less than half an hour if roads had been close to what they were supposed to be.

But probably there is a ray of hope. Or atleast we are made to believe that. Work is going on for the Bandra Worli Sealink. And maybe some day it will be extended to Nariman Point. Work for Metro Rail is about to start...Which will hopefully be there in place within 4 years...The roads are being widened at many places...So maybe there will be a better tomorrow...Or let me put it this way - We will have a better tomorrow is what all traffic boards say..For that we only need to do a small thing..i.e. sacrifice our present...We are doing that anyway...So lets pray that special tomorrow comes...Coz as they say, 'After all, tomorrow is another day'...Lets hope I live to see that tomorrow...

Its we who have made Mumbai a city that is geared for a better tomorrow. How well will we be able to maintain it..still remains a question.
